“Every person, no matter their story, holds the capacity for growth, healing, and wholeness when truly heard.”

Welcome

Whatever brings you here — grief, anxiety, feeling lost, or simply the need to talk — your story matters, your voice matters, and you matter.

My intention is to create a calm, respectful space where you can slow down, speak freely, and feel supported in whatever you’re carrying.

At the heart of my practice is a simple belief: healing happens when we are truly heard. When we feel seen and accepted without judgment, something within us softens. We begin to breathe, reflect, and grow.

If you’re ready to begin, I’m here to listen. I look forward to getting to know you, and to holding space for you.

“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take the step” - Naeem Callaway

About

Colin Thomas | Counselling Psychologist

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.

I’m an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist with over 20 years of experience supporting adults in both private practice and clinical settings. Over the years, I’ve worked with people from many different walks of life as they navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, identity, self-worth, relationship difficulties, and times of transition or change.

I practice from a humanistic, person-centred perspective. That means I see you not as a set of symptoms or something to be “fixed,” but as a whole person — with a unique story, inner strengths, and the capacity for healing; my work is also influenced by compassion-focused therapy, which gently supports the development of self-kindness, emotional resilience, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

Counselling is a calm, confidential space where you can explore what’s happening in your inner and outer world — without pressure, judgment, or expectation. It’s a place to make sense of difficult or painful experiences and gently reconnect with parts of yourself that may have felt silenced, hidden, or overwhelmed.

Counselling can support you in many ways. It can help you:

• Understand yourself more deeply

• Make sense of painful or confusing emotions

• Develop healthier ways of relating — to yourself and others

• Reconnect with your values, choices, and sense of direction

• Find steadier ground during times of uncertainty or transition

My role is to walk alongside you — offering empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard as we explore what matters most to you. Whether you’re carrying something heavy or simply seeking space to reflect, I’m here to support you at your pace, in your time.

Services

I offer individual therapy for adults, grounded in warmth, integrity, and care. Each session is tailored to you — drawing on a wide range of psychological models to meet your unique needs, including humanistic, person-centred, and compassion-focused approaches.

You might be coming to therapy because…

  • You’re moving through a life transition or change
  • You’re carrying the impact of trauma or past experiences
  • You’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally stuck
  • You’re living with low mood, grief, or a sense of disconnection
  • You’re struggling in relationships — with others or with yourself
  • You’re seeking deeper understanding, healing, or personal growth

Whether you're in pain, in transition, curious to explore more of who you are, or simply wanting to feel different — this space is here for you.

Together, we co-create a supportive place for meaningful, lasting change — grounded in empathy, trust, and collaboration.

If something here resonated with you, feel free to reach out. I’d be glad to hear from you.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve gathered some of the questions people often ask when considering counselling, along with simple, straightforward answers to help you feel more comfortable and informed.

If you don’t see your question here, please feel free to get in touch — I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No — you can contact me directly to book an initial session. No referral is needed.

What are your fees?

Sessions are £55 and last for 50 minutes.

I also offer a limited number of low-cost spaces — feel welcome to ask about availability.

What can I expect in the first session?

Our first session is a gentle starting point — a chance to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for, how I work, and whether this feels like the right fit for you. More than anything, it’s a space for you to feel heard, supported, and met with care — just as you are.

How often will we meet, and for how long?

Sessions are typically held weekly, as this supports continuity and emotional safety. While there's no commitment required, I often recommend starting with six sessions — this allows time to build trust, explore your needs at a steady pace, and begin shaping a meaningful therapeutic relationship.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes — I offer sessions online via secure video call.

Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person work, and offers flexibility if travel, health, or life commitments make in-person sessions harder. Many people appreciate the ease and comfort of attending from their own space.

All you need is a quiet, private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. I’ll send you a secure link before each session — and we’ll begin just as we would in the therapy room, with time, care, and space for you.

Will the sessions be confidential?

Yes — what you share in our sessions is treated with respect and confidentiality. There are a few rare exceptions where I may need to break confidentiality — for example, if there’s a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or where I’m legally required to share information. If that ever became relevant, I would always do my best to speak with you first and explain clearly what would happen. Confidentiality is a vital part of creating a trusting space — something I hold with great care.

What if I need to cancel a session?

I ask for 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Cancellations with less notice may be charged at the full session rate.
